Falmouth

Home Remodeling Contractor in Falmouth, Massachusetts

Like much of Cape Cod, Falmouth’s early industries included farming, whaling, salt works and sheep husbandry, which became very popular with the introduction of Marino sheep and water-powered mills that could process the wool. In 1837, Falmouth averaged about 50 sheep per square mile. By 1872, the train reached Falmouth and Woods Hole, and the first summer homes appeared.

Today, Falmouth is the second largest municipality on the Cape next to Barnstable, and is home to the Otis National Air Force Base and The Woods Hole, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority. It’s also the official Steward of the Nobska Light House, and the birthplace of Katherine Lee Bates, an American songwriter, and author of “America the Beautiful”
