Kingston is a beautiful, historic coastal town located about 35 miles outside of Boston. Originally settled by the Pilgrims shortly after their landing at Plymouth rock, the area holds great prominence in American history. Several Native American burial sites have been found here, and it’s believed that several bloody battles were fought within the town’s boarders during the American Revolutionary War.
Kingston is also home to the longest continually running boat yard in North America, now named the Jones River Landing. The American Revolutionary War era brig, USS Independence, was built here by shipbuilders on the Jones River, and has become an icon proudly featured on the Kingston town seal.
